Recently Rhonda shared a video from Glennon Doyle Melton (of momastery.com) and the SALT Project between all our friends at Redwood Park Communities and it perfectly sums up what we do here.
In building terms, when a joist is weakened, another joist is attached alongside, maybe even on both sides. This additional support is called a “sister” joist, and the process is called “sistering”.
At Redwood Park Communities, this is exactly what we do. Our friends have been through some challenging times, and sometimes all they need is someone to stand alongside them for support.
Sometimes that means offering a listening ear over coffee. Sometimes it’s a grocery gift card when things are tight. Sometimes it’s a ride, or an hour of babysitting so they can get some things done. Sometimes it’s sitting together in a courtroom or a doctor’s waiting room. Sometimes it’s a Christmas party, an afternoon of skating, a clothing swap, or a spa night.
